Getting started

1

Unlock the module

Attach Custom Bot to this server. Free and Premium plans can preview but cannot edit it.

2

Create an application

Create a Discord Developer Portal application, add a bot, and enable Presence, Server Members, and Message Content intents.

3

Connect once

Paste the Application ID and bot token. NightCrew validates and encrypts the token and never displays it again.

4

Invite it

Select Invite custom bot and authorize it for the active server.

5

Personalize

Change the name, profile picture, banner, status, activity, and status text. The large Discord preview updates while editing.

Settings reference

Use this reference when you need to check what a setting does.

Application ID

Public numeric ID of the dedicated Discord application.

Bot token

Secret credential accepted once, validated, encrypted, and never shown again.

Bot name

Discord username for the dedicated bot; Discord rate limits frequent changes.

Status

Online, Idle, Do Not Disturb, or Invisible.

Activity

Playing, Watching, Listening, Competing, or custom presence wording.

Profile picture

Square PNG, JPG, WebP, or GIF under the displayed upload limit.

Banner

Wide profile artwork; Discord may restrict banner behavior based on application capabilities.

How it works

Here’s what happens once you’ve finished setup.

  1. 1
    Administrator

Creates the Discord application and connects its credentials once.

  2. 2
    NightCrew

Starts an isolated child process restricted to the subscribed server.

  3. 3
    Dashboard

Edits identity for an active Custom Bot subscription.

  4. 4
    Custom bot

Runs the same enabled cogs and per-server data as NightCrew.

Example

EXAMPLE
Branded community bot

Name it after the community, upload its logo and banner, set Do Not Disturb or Online, and use Listening to Community Support as the status.

Permissions

What NightCrew needs
  • Custom Bot plan
  • Dedicated Discord application
  • Correct bot role position

Things to know

!

Changing identity does not change the Discord application account or application ID.

Troubleshooting

Token validation fails

Reset the token in Discord Developer Portal and reconnect with the matching Application ID.

Identity saves but Discord is unchanged

Confirm the custom child process is Connected and restart it after major Discord-side application changes.

Two bots are briefly visible

Wait up to one minute after the custom bot shows Connected. NightCrew automatically removes the shared bot and routes dashboard actions through the custom identity.

Common questions

Why is it locked?+

The selected server does not have an active Custom Bot subscription.

Why is it offline?+

Restart the correct hosted process and check Connection settings for its startup error.
