Getting Started

Invite NightCrew, select a server, and prepare Discord permissions.

Getting started

1

Invite NightCrew

Sign in with Discord, choose a server you can manage, select Invite bot, and authorize the bot plus application commands.

2

Move the bot role

Open Discord Server Settings → Roles and move NightCrew above every role it must assign or remove. Administrator does not bypass role hierarchy.

3

Open the dashboard

Refresh the server list, select Manage, and confirm the correct server appears in the selector.

4

Choose modules

New server installs start with every module turned off. Open the modules you want from the sidebar, configure them, and enable each using its top switch. Existing server choices are preserved.

5

Test safely

Use a private testing channel and test member before publishing panels or enabling automatic enforcement.

Settings reference

Use this reference when you need to check what a setting does.

Discord OAuth

Signs the dashboard user in and reads servers they can manage; it does not post as the user.

Bot application

The Discord application identified by DISCORD_CLIENT_ID and operated with DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN.

Active server

The server currently selected in NightCrew Control.

How it works

Here’s what happens once you’ve finished setup.

  1. 1
    Invite

A user with Manage Server authorizes NightCrew.

  2. 2
    Discord

Creates the bot role at the bottom of the hierarchy.

  3. 3
    Administrator

Moves that role upward and verifies channel access.

  4. 4
    NightCrew

Loads the server and begins responding to enabled modules.

Example

EXAMPLE
Safe first test

Create #nightcrew-testing, allow only staff and NightCrew to view it, then publish a test embed and run /serverinfo.

Permissions

!
What NightCrew needs
  • Manage Server for the inviter
  • View Channels
  • Send Messages
  • Embed Links
  • Read Message History
  • Use Application Commands

Things to know

!

Never paste a bot token into Discord chat, support tickets, screenshots, or source files.

Troubleshooting

Slash commands are missing

Wait for the startup console to show command sync, then restart Discord or wait for global command propagation.

Server is absent

The signed-in account needs Manage Server and the bot must be invited to that same server.

Common questions

The server still says Invite bot+

Refresh the list and confirm the hosted bot uses the same Discord application configured in DISCORD_CLIENT_ID.
