Updated October 21, 20262 min read

Getting started

1

Choose a preset

Start with Community, Gaming, Private, Streaming, or Staff, then customize the template.

2

Choose the lobby

Select an existing join-to-create voice channel or let NightCrew create one.

3

Design the room

Use {display_name}, {username}, {game}, {number}, or {server}; choose bitrate, visibility, user limit, and category.

4

Set access

Choose required, blocked, bypass, and staff roles plus optional waiting-room approval.

5

Set safety limits

Control rooms per member, creation cooldown, AFK timeout, and the empty-room cleanup delay.

6

Enable controls

NightCrew posts persistent Lock, Hide, Claim, Help, and Delete buttons inside each room's text chat.

7

Manage members

Use /room for permit, reject, kick, block, unblock, co-owner, transfer, rename, and limit actions.

8

Operate from the dashboard

Search live rooms and queue staff lock, hide, rename, limit, transfer, or close actions.

9

Review health

Use setup diagnostics, usage metrics, room history, and Advanced Logging evidence.

10

Back up your settings

Export a JSON backup; restored templates remain paused until this server's lobby is selected.

Settings reference

Use this reference when you need to check what a setting does.

Join-to-create channel

Lobby that creates a personal room when joined.

Category

Where temporary rooms live.

Name template

Supports the member's display name in the generated channel name.

User limit

Default maximum occupants; zero means Discord unlimited.

Creator controls

Enables lock, hide, rename, limit, and transfer operations.

How it works

Here’s what happens once you’ve finished setup.

  1. 1
    Member

    Joins the lobby.

  2. 2
    NightCrew

Creates a room, applies permissions, records who created it, and moves the member.

  3. 3
    Room creator

    Uses room controls.

  4. 4
    Cleanup

    Deletes the room once empty.

Example

EXAMPLE
Community rooms

Use a lobby named ➕ Create a Room inside Community Voice, `{display_name}'s room`, limit 0, and creator controls enabled.
