Invite Tracking

Attribute joins, filter suspicious activity, measure retention, and automate inviter rewards.

Updated October 21, 20262 min read

Getting started

1

Enable tracking

Keep Invite Tracking active before new members join so NightCrew can compare invite-use snapshots.

2

Check permissions

NightCrew needs Manage Server to read invite counters and Manage Roles for reward milestones.

3

Configure fraud rules

Choose the rapid-leave window, minimum account age, bot handling, and whether rejoins count.

4

Add reward tiers

Select a Discord role and the number of qualified invites needed. Keep NightCrew's role above every reward role.

5

Review attribution

Search by member, inviter, or invite code and filter retained, left, and suspicious joins.

6

Publish or export

Post the top-three leaderboard to Discord or export the full guild-scoped report as CSV.

Settings reference

Use this reference when you need to check what a setting does.

Invite code

Discord invite identifier whose use count is tracked.

Qualified invite

An attributed join that passes the server's fraud rules.

Suspicious join

A self-invite, excluded rejoin, young account, or rapid leave.

Unknown invite

Used when Discord cannot match snapshots, including vanity, deleted, expired, or race conditions.

Reward tier

A Discord role automatically granted after an inviter reaches a qualified total.

How it works

Here’s what happens once you’ve finished setup.

  1. 1
    Snapshot

NightCrew caches visible invite use counts.

  2. 2
    Join

Fetches current counts and finds the invite that increased.

  3. 3
    Screen

Checks account age, self-invites, bots, and rejoin policy.

  4. 4
    Reward

Recalculates qualified totals and synchronizes milestone roles.

  5. 5
    Leave

Marks the original join as left and updates retention.

Example

EXAMPLE
Creator recruiting

Review attributed joins weekly, exclude members who immediately leave, and verify results before awarding incentives.

What NightCrew needs
  • Manage Server or Manage Guild to view invites
  • Manage Roles for automatic rewards
  • Server Members intent

Troubleshooting

All joins say unknown

Grant Manage Server/Manage Guild invite access and confirm the invite still exists when used.

A reward role is not assigned

Move NightCrew's bot role above the reward role and grant Manage Roles.

Counts are stale

Restarting refreshes snapshots; never edit database invite use counts manually.
